Welcome to Wingfield – a small parish with a big heart

Welcome to Wingfield Parish Council’s website. We are a small rural parish in West Wiltshire, near to the border with Somerset. This site provides useful information to residents and visitors alike, including details of local events and meetings. It also provides a way for residents to raise issues or make enquiries about local events.

The Parish Council is run by elected or co-opted local representatives of the community who live in the village and who organise events and manage services to ensure our village is a pleasant and efficient place to live, visit or work. We are funded by a small precept administered by Wiltshire Council, allowing us to manage modest projects to improve our environment.

Wingfield Parish Council supports a ‘Green Agenda’, liaising with Wiltshire Council about the cutting of verges, litter-picking, road signage and potholes and waste management of local laybys. We support the aim to remove all chemical weed management within the village environment through Wiltshire Council. We support various initiatives for bird boxes and plant and seed swaps. We oversee the work of the Parish Steward who, on his monthly visits, undertakes modest maintenance projects around the parish, from filling potholes, cutting back foliage for clear views for motorists and clearing drains and gullies to aid water run-off management.

We aim to reflect our residents’ views and welcome input regarding events in the village that we can share with others. Please send us photos or repost from successful events so we can share and encourage others to be involved by contacting us through the website.

If you spot issues with damaged road signs, potholes or pavements, please report this online to MyWilts online reporting.
