The Parish of Wingfield lies within the county of Wiltshire, England. Bradford-on-Avon lies 2.5 miles to the north of the parish and is bounded by the Trowbridge urban area 2.2 miles to the east. The west is bounded by Farleigh Hungerford parish with the perimeter predominantly defined by the River Frome and to the south by the county of Somerset.

The village has a small and scattered population, which satellites around the crossing of the secondary road (B3109) from Bradford-on-Avon to Rode and the main road from Trowbridge to Farleigh Hungerford (A 366). The character of the village is defined by the many surrounding low intensity agricultural land, which has beautiful footpaths, bridleways and byways in and around the parish.

The parish has interesting clubs and societies, businesses, and farms as well as an active church and two schools.
