Iain is our Parish Steward for Wingfield and is scheduled to visit the area once a month to carry out maintenance tasks as directed by the Parish Council. Iain’s part of a team of Parish Stewards, employed by Wiltshire Council, who undertake small-scale local highways works in towns and parishes.

This is Wiltshire Council’s list of activities that Parish Stewards may be able to help us with:
- Hand clearing and cutting of growth from drainage grips and drain gully covers;
- Hand clearing of blocked drainage gullies, culverts, pipes and pits;
- Clearing storm debris from the roads and footways;
- Cleaning, re-installing & straightening of small road signs, street nameplates & bollards;
- Installation of small road signs, verge marker posts and supplied street name plates;
- Removal of limited graffiti from road signs, bollards and street nameplates;
- Hand cutting of grass and vegetation in visibility areas;
- Hand treatment of weeds in rural areas;
- Removal of Ragwort and other noxious weeds;
- Clearance of encroaching growth and soils from footways;
- Repair of minor surface defects in roads and on footways.
Please contact the Parish Council if you see any tasks that the Parish Steward could deal with on his next visit to Wingfield. Please provide a photo and an exact location (e.g. What3Words) if possible.
Scheduled Parish Steward visit dates for 2026
23rd June; 23rd July; 23rd September; 26th October; 24th November; 16th December
There are no scheduled Parish Steward visits in May (due to visibility verge works) or August (due to noxious weed removal). Scheduled visits may be subject to change or cancelled if Parish Stewards are needed to undertake other urgent works in the area.
