Just one more councillor needed!

We’re pleased that we’ve recently recruited two new councillors to Wingfield Parish Council, so we have just one councillor role to fill. If you’re community minded, can listen to others and are keen to be involved in your local area, please get in touch. Contact Selina at clerk@wingfieldparishcouncil.gov.uk.

Wingfield Parish Council is made up of six councillors, who tend to take the lead in an area of interest such as highways, environment, planning, footpaths etc. The Parish Council is supported by a paid  part-time Clerk and training is available.

Parish Council Meeting, 7.30pm, Wednesday 30 July

The agenda for this meeting is available from the Agenda & Minutes page of the website.

Join Wingfield Parish Council!

Following the local elections in May there are two vacancies on Wingfield Parish Council.

If you’re a community-minded person who can listen to others and is interested in ensuring the best outcomes for the village, then Wingfield Parish Council needs you!

Parish councils are part of grassroots democracy and contribute to the well-being of neighbourhoods by:

  • Representing the local community, giving residents a voice in local decision making and forming a bridge between the community and local government
  • Bringing people together by enabling residents to get involved, express their opinions and contribute, often by organising events, initiatives and projects
  • Playing a role in the planning and development process by reviewing and commenting on planning applications so they align with the needs of the local community
  • Raising funds through the Council Tax Precept, managing budgets and allocating resources to local projects and initiatives

To be considered for co-option, residents need to write a short statement about themselves, their skills & experience or their interest in supporting the council, as well as confirming that they meet criteria to be eligible to stand. Applications should be submitted to the Clerk by 15 June so that they can be considered by councillors at the next Parish Council meeting on 18 June.

Contact Selina, the Parish Clerk, at clerk@wingfieldparishcouncil.gov.uk or 07846 777510, for an informal chat about the responsibilities and commitment (not huge) and the satisfaction (immense) of serving your community.

Parish Council Meeting, 14th May 2025

The next meeting of Wingfield Parish Council will be held at 6.45pm at Stowford Manor Farm on Wednesday 14th May.

This will be the Annual Meeting of the Council and the first meeting since last week’s local elections. There were fewer nominations to stand as Wingfield Parish Councillors than the six councillor positions that exist, so all candidates were elected without contest. We welcome back Jenny, Kath, Mark and Gillian.

The Parish Council will now look to co-opt two more residents to the Parish Council so please get in touch if you’re interested in finding out more about the role and being involved in your local community.

Wingfield Parish Councillors work hard, on an unpaid basis, to improve village life for our community. We encourage residents to engage with the Parish Council and to bring forward comments and ideas in a constructive way. Residents can contact the Clerk at: clerk@wingfieldparishcouncil.gov.uk or on 07846 777510.

We also welcome Nigel White who was elected as the new Unitary Councillor for Winsley & Westwood division (which includes Wingfield).
