Consultation on draft ‘Climate Strategy’ and ‘Our Natural Environment Plan’

    Climate Change – Wiltshire Council

Wiltshire Council has produced two draft strategies, relating to climate change and the wider natural environment.

If you want to have your say, now is the time!

Wiltshire Council (WC) are giving the opportunity to residents, businesses and local groups to have their say on our draft Climate Strategy, which covers seven delivery themes: transport; built environment; waste; green economy; energy generation; natural environment, food and farming; and carbon neutral council. It will help to shape the next five years of the council’s fight against climate change.

At the same time, WC will also be consulting on ‘Our Natural Environment Plan’ – A Green and Blue Infrastructure (GBI) Strategy for Wiltshire, which looks at the future for Wiltshire’s natural environmental assets and how the council can help protect and enhance them for the benefit of people and biodiversity. Full details are available at www.wiltshire.gov.uk/climate.

To respond, please complete the surveys at www.wiltshire.gov.uk/climate and
    ‘www.wiltshire.gov.uk/planning-bio-green-blue-infrastructure by October 17th 2021.

    Litter Pick Success!

    Wingfield Womble Litter Pick

    #GBSCWILTS

A massive thank you to the amazing people of Wingfield, who came together to help keep Wingfield tidy and give the countryside a helping hand!

On Saturday 21st May, there was a great atmosphere and sense of camaraderie as we rolled up our sleeves and got stuck in.  It was empowering to see all the hard work materialised into large bags of refuse, showing how our community can come together to do something good for the environment instead of just moaning about the eyesore litter creates.

Seeing the litter by the sides of the roads can be frustrating.  It’s difficult to understand the mentality of someone who thinks littering is ok. It’s easy to become upset thinking about the lazy, uncaring litterbugs who have no respect for the environment or the community that lives there.

However, what Saturday showed us, was that there’s so much more we can do than tut and complain about litter, and the mindset of all those infuriating litterbugs.

We can all make an enormous difference by simply picking it up.  Wingfield Parish Council is so thankful to all those who came to help out. And we will make sure the event is held earlier in the year in 2023, before litter becomes hidden beneath the cow parsley.

Thank you again to all the volunteers, to Tony Bennion for his advice and @wiltscouncil for their help and resources.
